Kid Sister: Second Series

Sheree Trotter sat down with Simone Nathan to discuss the second series of her hit TV comedy ‘Kid Sister’ and the strong ties she has to her Jewish roots. Simone’s family has a long history in Aotearoa New Zealand in the 1840s, being amongst the first Jewish settlers in the country. Indeed her forebears, David and Rosetta had the first Jewish wedding in New Zealand.

The show ‘Kid Sister’ is a comedic take on Simone’s real life and was an opportunity to represent the small Jewish community of Aotearoa and allow viewers from other backgrounds the chance “to see what we live like behind closed doors”.

Simone studied film writing at the New York University Tisch School of the Arts and has worked on other projects such as ‘Bloodline’, ‘Inside Amy Schumer’, and with Taika Waititi on ‘Our Flag Means Death’.
